Build 22621.436 and 22622.436 out to Beta Channel Insiders

Had to repair update my PC with ISO 22622.436 after the WU install (crashing photos app)

Anyway, all ok after the update. Switched this PC to RDC and was greeted with the following screen: The screen behind is just the photos app shrunk from maximised

Got exactly the same screen yesterday, it showed up at one point, while I was testing multiple displays.

I just connected to a wireless display and change the resolution to match my main screen.

In windows 11, I don't see any setting for tablet mode, anyway this PC is a desktop with no touch screen. 🤷‍♂️

That screen looked like part of the Tips App, but I cannot even find it in Tips now. 😎

I could reproduce it once more, by going back to my previous backup and then connecting to a wireless display and duplicating the screen.

Looks like one time mistake, I cannot even find those same 9 pages in Tips App after closing that window and reopening Tips. 🤷‍♂️

This is the only one I find after I reopen Tips. 🤣

I did another test to isolate further the problem with Microsoft.Photos.

Did a clean install with the MS Beta ISO 22621.1, Microsoft Photos App was working normally.

Then with W.U. went directly to 22622.436 and the App started to crash the same way we have seen earlier.

Update/repair in place with third-party ISO 22622.436 fixed the problem again.

Perhaps there is something missing or corrupted in the W.U. download?

Interesting that W.U. update directly from 22000.832 to 22622.436 worked fine, there was no problem at all with the Photos App.

What is missing or broken? 😎

After downloading all files for the ISO, watched part of the creation. After the main part finished, all apps were added, amongst them were quite a few Microsoft.NET.Native.Framework files. Perhaps some are missing from the WU download

It is the same exact App version in 22000.795 and 22621.232, but only fails with 22622.436. 🤐

Same version recently installed is working fine here for me on a VMware VM. 🤷‍♂️

edit: do you have the Photos Media Engine Add-on installed?

Did you see how many users are now having this bug that crashes Photos App?

Still happening in build 22622.440 and no fix in site.

I fixed the problem on all my Beta systems with update/repair in place last week, and it still works fine after updating to 22622.440.

I think it has nothing to do with the Photos App itself.

The problem seems to be caused by a bug with one of the .NET Framework.

The version of the Photos App is still the same as it was in the public 22000.832 and it still works fine with 22622.440 after the update/repair of the Windows system.
