Jason, unplugging my external HD FIXED THE PROBLEM. Don't ask me why!!! 😁 Maybe there's something wrong with that drive, but I sure am relieved to have that upgrade to 25309 installed and working! 😊

2023-03-04T19:34:57+00:00 Well will wonders never cease. Unplugging that external HD and restarting the update WORKED. Glory BE! I have no clue why that was the problem, but I have to say I'm sure relieved!

I have a mixed bag with the Spotlight icon. One machine has it, another does not. I have tried several times switching back and forth to picture and spotlight to no avail.
I will take snips if I get the chance. On my non-compliant laptop I have like a version of file explorer that looks like the one from Win8 and early Win10. No idea where that came from. Have not looked into this concern, been busy with health (I am winning the fight with cancer) and other things.
This build is a terrible one. I've had to install twice with ISO and keep it offline for it to take on a compliant vm. Still have one more non-compliant vm to do. Too many changes in the inner workings, going to take time to get sorted.
Regards,
Johnny

2023-03-04T18:02:21+00:00 Jason, I ran the Dell utility to update drivers, and it updated 5 of them so I deleted the updates folder, and started again, doing the updates and attempting the install. This time I got that same error code 0xc19000101.1000 (the .1000 code is new - I couldn't find it earlier). The only external device (besides a wired keyboard and mouse) is an external hard drive I've been using for a year with all the updates. I guess I'll try unplugging and trying once again. To the best of my knowledge the only files I deleted were in that update folder (Software Distribution, I think is the name).
Editiorial comment: This sure is a PAIN! 😢
Update: OK, I've unplugged the external hard drive, emptied the SoftwareDistribution folder, and restarted the update. If it doesn't update this time, I'll just wait for the next build. If that doesn't work, I'm afraid I'll have to rethink staying with Insider builds; this is straining my patience level.. 😢
