Just got a Windows Update message that some updates failed (although I have been running 25309 for 24 hours) So being adventurous clicked Check for Updates but all I got was a Security Update, and the fail notice disappeared. 🤣

Just tried your link (again, tried this previously from exactly this site, as per post earlier Page 4) and it just produces a Config file (1st line looks for Net 4.6)

    and a Log report that's 0kb

    it is FLTMGR.sys.

Thanks, that is the same error that I had, and also other users.

Upgrading yet another desktop from Beta 22624.1391 to Dev 25309.1000, we'll see how this goes. 😎

    Image

This was a surprising result, the upgrade completed without issues and contrary to all previous updates it did not screw up the desktop.

No GSOD or any other error, it was successful on first try. 👍

The icon's size was unchanged to my original settings for small icons, and no rearrangement of the desktop took place this time.

Unclear if MS fixed the problem or this is due to the different type of upgrade from 22624 to 25309.

The control panel setting was also preserved as my original settings.

Anyway, looks like a good sign of progress. 😊

Perhaps the statement in the blog applies to this case, but not all cases, given that we have still seen the problem yesterday. 😎

    • Fixed an issue which caused Insiders with custom desktop icon arrangements / sizes to get set back to default in the previous build.

    Edit:

I repeated the update from 25300 to 25309 and the desktop icons resize, and rearrangement happened again exactly like previously.

I've seen 2 separate behaviors now.

    1. Upgrade from 25300.1000 to 25309.1000. The desktop and control panel back to default settings. (Medium size icons on desktop and View by Category in control panel) 😝🤷‍♂️
    2. Upgrade from 22624.1391 to 25309.1000. The desktop and control panel settings are preserved as they were in previous setting before the upgrade. 👍

Also, the spotlight icon and menu look normal after this upgrade. 🤷‍♂️

Next check for updates got the .NET update.
