[Resolved in Build 22567] New Task Manager reverting back to the old style with Build 22557.1, randomly on different machines.

After updating to Build 22557.1 on 2/16/2022 the new style Task Manager showed up and worked as advertise in the blog except for a minor bug with the Title of the tabs defaulting to Processes regardless of the tab selected to open as default in settings.

A day later on 2/17/2022 the new Task Manager started to revert to the old style on some machines randomly.

Other machines still have the new style Task Manager.

It appears to be another typical A/B testing done by MS without any warning to the users.

On one machine it reverted back again on 2/18/2022 after I restored it to the new style the day before.

I have no problem participating in A/B testing, but I'd like MS to notify when they change those experimental features so that the users are not left guessing on what is happening.

    Hi fg,

On the clean install I had the new one until shutdown last night.

Today I have the old one and I'm glad I do, I don't like the colors of the new one.

    Hi Sibro,

They need to justify their jobs one way or another.

They used to call these "Job Security Projects" 🤣

    They only make Drew happy.

I don't see any advantage on the new format either. 🤐

    Split from this thread.

For those wishing to upvote the new Task Manager reverting back to

old Task Manager. May have had to do with the Update Stack Package

    received this afternoon.

I had the old Task Manager before the Update Stack Package was installed and it is still the old Task Manager after the Stack Package was installed. A "Restart" made no difference.

    @J W Stuart,

Restart is not going to make any difference unless they change the Features Configuration files to enable the new feature. Nothing to do with the Update Stack Package.

If the new Task Manager features configurations are disabled, they will stay disabled till they are updated from the server. Then they will take effect after a restart.

They can be changed manually, but that is a discussion for another thread. 😏

I just get that Update Stack package and soon after that task manager turn back to it's old look.

    Hi Pauli,

    Unrelated to Update Stack Package.

I got that on every machine.

One machine reverted to old Task manager before receiving Update Stack Package.

Another one reverted Task Manager a day after that.

A third machine never reverted back and still has the new Task Manager. It has the new Update Stack Package and was rebooted multiple times. 🤐
