[Resolved in Build 22567] New Task Manager reverting back to the old style with Build 22557.1, randomly on different machines.

After updating to Build 22557.1 on 2/16/2022 the new style Task Manager showed up and worked as advertise in the blog except for a minor bug with the Title of the tabs defaulting to Processes regardless of the tab selected to open as default in settings.

A day later on 2/17/2022 the new Task Manager started to revert to the old style on some machines randomly.

Other machines still have the new style Task Manager.

It appears to be another typical A/B testing done by MS without any warning to the users.

On one machine it reverted back again on 2/18/2022 after I restored it to the new style the day before.

I have no problem participating in A/B testing, but I'd like MS to notify when they change those experimental features so that the users are not left guessing on what is happening.

    Yes, there are, now, 3 ways to see Snap choices.

    1. Hover the maximise button.
    2. (New) Shove a window up to the top edge.
    3. Hit Win+Z

    For me #1 is the better option.

    #2 is not practical and doesn't work every time, too often it is hidden behind the window and all this acrylic visual is just annoying.

    I would disable #2 immediately if they had the option.

    Moving up the window to the top used to maximize to full screen, now you don't know what to expect, the behavior is unpredictable depending on how much you push the window up you get different results. 🤣

    Its a feature that has been out for a while

    I remember that popping up on the right corner of the window, now it seems a different game, more confusing and not practical.

    And with that, I'm going to bed.

    Yes, I see what you see.

    It is the bottom of that rectangular shape that I show on the second picture, when that shows up the rest of the screen becomes blurry like in the 3rd picture below.

    oh! I didn't go that far up, now I understand what it is, thanks!

    The other problem I see, when you do it with the task manger window that rectangular is not always on top, it stays behind the main window, and you cannot even see what you are doing.

    It doesn't seem ready for prime time. 🤐

    Hi Pauli,

    It is kind of crazy behavior.

    It shrinks the window that you move and shows the position it will take on the screen depending on how you pick the split.

    I think I see what is happening.

    According to the Blog they wanted to do a controlled release of the new Task Manager, but then they realized that the new Task Manager was enabled by default to everybody right after W.U. to 22557.1

    At that point they decided to disable it by adding the 2 configurations in disabled mode and revert it back to the old format.

    It is getting reverted back in most machines, so that they get back in a controlled release fashion as it was the original idea expressed in the Blog.

    If I delete completely the configurations related to Task Manager as they were originally after W.U. to 22557 the new Task Manager shows up again after a restart.

    Confusing? That is MS. 🤣
