Why was the tablet-optimised taskbar removed in 22623.1325?

The tablet-optimized taskbar has been working perfectly well for months, & suddenly it's been removed without warning. The blog post about the update doesn't say anything. Just something about how there was a fix for an issue causing the taskbar to be cut off after resolution changes.

Does anyone know why a perfectly useful feature was removed?

For no obvious reason, certainly nothing I have changed, my Lenovo Yoga that had suffered from the missing Tablet Optimized Taskbar now has it back today.

Confirmed, I have the option again in Taskbar settings and also the actual collapsed taskbar when it switches to tablet mode with Build 22624.1537.

Now we have to wait for the same fix to be released to Public build.

Good to have the option to turn it off, many users don't need it or don't want the extra annoyance. 🤣🤷‍♂️

This is a Lenovo YOGA 920-13IKB, fully supported 2-in-1 laptop.

    No one asking you Jane to explain, we both thought your problem might be part of what MS said in their release notes but we were trying to work out what is touch-optimized taskbar for 2-in-1 devices that you can use as a tablet, I think it doesn't cover Surfaces hence why I do not have that option and maybe why you haven't got that option either.

    Why am I being asked to explain something you posted, that is irrelevant to the discussion?

    The reason you are confused is probably because you skim read the original post, decided the discussion was about settings, & are now talking about a version of the thread that you have constructed in your head.

    The issue I am having is that the tablet-optimised taskbar is gone. Not that a setting is missing. Not that something has changed to 'off' by default & needs to be turned back on (never mind that the post you've quoted only mentions it being off by default when an organisation is handling things). The feature used to work as it did in the quoted paragraph beginning 'New!', collapsing while running programs, & expanding the rest of the time, a little taller than its normal state when a keyboard is attached, & with more widely-spaced icons. Now it does not do this. It really is that simple.

    Your readiness to help is an admirable quality, but it's a good idea to know what you're helping with before throwing yourself in

    Just chiming in to say that I'm having the exact same problem. Tablet-optimized taskbar has been removed from the settings menu and no longer works at all on my Surface Go 3.
