The downloaded ISO file looks the same as ever, if you downloaded with MS Edge it adds the ADS SmartScreen:$DATA, which causes the file to be unblocked automatically on first mount.

If you do issue cmd dir /r it should show that the Zone.Identifier:$DATA has been remove after the first mount.

I really don't see any difference with the previous behavior.

I you download with a different browser, the file will not have SmartScreen:$DATA appended to it, in that case it may not unblock the file automatically.

This notepad command will show you the content of the Alternate Data Stream SmartScreen:

notepad Windows11_InsiderPreview_Client_x64_en-us__22000_194.iso:SmartScreen:$DATA

This other notepad command shows where the file is coming from:

notepad Windows11_InsiderPreview_Client_x64_en-us__22000_194.iso:Zone.Identifier:$DATA

The Zone.Identifier:$DATA is removed after the first mount, after that all the subsequent Mounts are immediate.

That is quite normal when downloading from the Web, even if it is from a MS official insider site.

In previous builds, mounting an ISO with block feature took a long time, you will remember. Now it mounts fast. That was what I meant to say when I said "Something must have changed.".

Yes I remember, it still mounts immediately on 21H1 builds, on windows 11 the different results were depending on this Apps settings. I will have to check again.

With Dev Build still looks the same.

Just checked on Beta 22000.194 and the behavior looks the same to me.

If the file was downloaded with MS Edge, there is an ADS SmartScreen:$DATA added to the file, if you allow Apps from anywhere, it will remove the the block on the first mount because of the SmartScreen:$DATA added by MS edge

In that case it unblocks the file automatically after the first Mount.

But its still has a long delay with all the other options.

Then you can click on "Install Anyway" and the block will be remove. (Zone.Identifier:$DATA)

There is no reason for the delay, they should check the block right away and pop up the message without delay.

Why does it take so long to put out the warning message ? (36 to 40 secs on a fast PC)

Still getting this message after a long delay, if I reply "Install anyway", it mounts the ISO and removes the block, Both Zone.Identifier and SmartScreen are removed. Subsequent mounts are immediate.

If I change the Apps setting to Anywhere it get a different message but still take a long time to pop up.

You will have to login with your insider account and then select the one you want from the list below and follow the instructions about selecting the language and the type of machine you want.
