FIX: Insiders not able to switch channels - **UPDATED 8/3/2021**

Hello Windows Insiders!

Windows 11 is now in the Beta Channel, and some of you are wanting to move over from the Dev Channel. We've been getting some reports that some of you are not seeing the options to change in Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program. We have a fix that should get you back on track. Please note, this fix is for devices that are not showing the Choose your Insider Settings and Windows Insider account settings, as in the image below.

If you are seeing this, please follow the steps below to restore the missing options:

  1. If you have Bitlocker enabled, please suspend it.
  2. Click Start
  3. In the search box, type cmd
  4. In the lower right of the search results, under Command Prompt, click Run as Administrator
  5. On the UAC prompt, click OK
  6. At the elevated command prompt, type: bcdedit /set flightsigning on
  7. Press Enter
  8. At the elevated command prompt, type: bcdedit /set {bootmgr} flightsigning on
  9. Press Enter
  10. Reboot the device

You should now see the missing options:

    I did find it using the method you suggested and I changed the sections in Applicability\Branch and UI\Selection from Dev to Beta, then rebooted. They reverted back to Dev?!

    Perhaps it's time to delete the entire WindowsSelfHost key and rejoin as you mentioned in your original response?! Are CU updates the same as Beta?

    Thoughts?

    If after that it reboots with me joined to the Insider Program and filled in both places as dev -

    it's Demon Computer Be Gone time ;)

    It is there, you would not be in Insider without it. Open registry editor, at the bar under file where it states computer, copy the key replacing computer then hit enter, it will take you directly to the key:

    Johnny, thanks.

    First I looked for the reg key you mentioned. There was no WindowsSelfHost key - so I searched the entire registry - still no joy. I tried the reg update provided at the Ten site and accepted UAC as mentioned by another poster. No joy. I checked to see if the Insider service was running. It was on manual, triggered, so for kicks I set it to automatic. No change.

    The problem I'm having is that the options to change are greyed out. I use custom colors, so you'll see the Dev section is checked in black. The other two are nonselectable ie: greyed out. You can click there but the buttons are not selectable.

    I've been an Insider since shortly after Win10 shipped. If anyone has any thoughts on this let me know. I'm considering leaving the program which I'd prefer not to do.

    You do not change whatever you are doing, right click on command and run as administrator like this:
