For users who are receiving the following message in your Windows Insider Settings:

Your PC does not meet the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 11. Your device may continue to receive Insider Preview builds until Windows 11 is generally available, at which time it is recommended to clean install to Windows 10.

We've made an update to Settings to resolve some issues. Please reboot your device to ensure you have the latest update.

    Thanks , everyone. I was just wondering because when the Windows Insider versions expire, I was wondering whether I'll have to buy a new license to activate it or will it revert to the license that I had.

    Windows 10 is going to be good until 2025 after that MS will decide if they need to extend that as I would say there is going to be a few people around the world still using it.

    Microsoft makes thier money from computer manufacters buy a license from Microsoft when a new computer is built.

    Yes, but given that Microsoft will still support Windows 10 for several more years to come, I don't think the majority of consumers will think they need to rush out and buy a new computer simply because their existing computer is not compatible with Windows 11. We need to remember that the vast majority of Windows users are not so keen as we are to have the latest and greatest Microsoft operating systems. That is why we are Insiders, right? We are a niche group.

    Edited: Added more thoughts.

    It wasn't so long ago (at least to me, considering my age) that communities like ours were railing against Microsoft for the lack of security inherent in Windows. Well, guess what, Microsoft has increasingly taken security seriously, hence the current mandate for TPM and secure boot. And, as I speculated in a previous post, the relatively late Intel processors that are not on the compatible list may be Microsoft's response to the plethora of security bugs Intel CPU series had for several generations (and to a much lesser extent, AMD CPUS.)

    I am not an apologist for Microsoft, just giving my perspective on the yin and yang of backwards compatibility versus security that's been playing out for the last 20 years with respect to Windows.

    One or more of my computers may never be Windows 11 ready; but that's alright, because 10 will still have Microsoft support for a long time coming.
