    The Z490 is one year old.. :)

    As further evidence showing MBR or GPT drive configuration can make a difference.  If you create a partition on a clean drive, the default choice is NTFS.  If you convert the drive to GPT first, the default choice is FAT32.

    I will wait for you to try it.  My system is set with Secure Boot enabled and the CSM disabled.

    The machine is an ASUS Z490 motherboard.

    I can now confirm the FAT32 partition is not necessary.  The difference here may the the GPT configuration of the USB drive.

    So, use at least a 16 GB flash drive, convert to GPT, create an NTFS partition and give it a drive letter then mount the .iso and copy over the files.

    As a note, my Public 19042.964 just got the N&I on the taskbar..

    The specs for UEFI indicate that FAT32 is needed for Booting, Your ASUS Z490 may still be one that boots also with NTFS, but that is not the case for many of the newer UEFI machines.

    There is nothing in the FAT32 partition.  I just created another one.  When I set it in the Boot Device menu, I was given both partitions as a choice.  If I chose the FAT32 partition, nothing happened but if I selected the NTFS partition it booted to the install.

    I am wondering now if the FAT32 partition is still necessary but it does work with it on the drive.  I suppose removing the FAT32 partition will be my next test.. ;)

    There are some older UEFI machines that can still boot from NTFS, but the newer machines that are UEFI only require FAT32 or will not boot. 

    An example is my Dell XPS 8700 that is set for UEFI, but it can still boot from an NTFS USB device.

    The newer Lenovo Yoga 920 or the Dell XPS 8930, which are UEFI only machines,  will only boot from FAT32.

    What machine are you using ?
