I copied the 22504 appraiser.dll file into another folder, for example "c:\auxiliary". In that folder I created a batch file that copy the appraiser into the $windows.~bt/sources and call itself, thus running in a loop. While the batch is running, do the update. When the messages on the batch file show that the file cannot be copied because it is in use, you may stop the batch execution.

How did you managed to change this file during update? Mine is always overwrite every time I try to update (when try to copy on the fly during the update system is using it and can't be overwrite). Thanks.

Not seeing this error on my yellow band Dell Inspiron 13 7th gen cpu machine. On this machine it is only the cpu which is non compliant. Upgrade went smoothly, if rather slowly!

I only got the error 0x80888002 on the not compliant Laptop and Desktop, easily reproduceable too. 😉

I could be wrong but the moment the error didn't even show up on a Google search I knew something weird was up.

Looks like the error on download and the new message I got with upgrade from installation media are definitely caused by the changes made in appraiser.dll in build 22509.

So, looks like you were right then, they tried to implement another block but messed up others as well.

I think that is the case. Here is another new one that showed up today after an upgrade.

It cleared after I hit retry all.
