Error 0x80888002 on build 22509

Okay, here's a work around: My Ryzen 3 system (3600X@ 4.2GHz, 16GB DDR4, 500GB Samsung M2, 1TB Samsung 970, AMD 570X-8GB) which passes all MS MyPCHealthCheck tests and had previously (through 22504) always updated but would not go beyond 10% on IP 22509. Just pisxed me off. :-) So, looked around and found this solution: Go to GitHub and download their Media Creation Tool. Unzip and click the Auto Update button (near the top of screen) and let it run. Reboot and go back to Windows Update and hit Retry. BAM, worked like a charm for me. GitHub advises to the go back and run the Media Creation Tool a second time to undo the changes, but for now I'm going to leave the changes in place and see what happens with the next IP. From what I read, that bypasses all the MS checks. 😎

If the machine passes the latest PC Health Check for Windows 11, I'd rather wait for a MS fix.

my microsoft insider error

My system meets all requirements for Windows 11 as verified by the latest version of PC Health Check, but it will not install IP 22509. Install goes fine until about the 8% mark where (based on other comments I read) the 22509 appraisser.dll does a scan of the specs to verify system compatibility with W11 and then errors out. Get a grip, MS - my Ryzen 5 system shouldn't pass one tester and fail another. Needs some help here! :-) Oh BTW, I am currently running IP 22504.

You can either wait for a fix from MS or try the workaround suggested earlier in this thread by JuarezFioravanti Filho.

Apparently, MS screwed up the appraiser.dll in build 22509. 🤔

I think that is the case. Here is another new one that showed up today after an upgrade.

It cleared after I hit retry all.

Fun fact: had no error clean installing 22509 or updating to .1011 on the RPi4B 😁

I'm never surprised by MS inconsistency.

There are so many different machine configurations, they have a hard time covering all the cases correctly and end up creating new bugs. 😆

Edit:

Did not have any issue with clean install on unsupported, just the usual known tricks.

No problems updating to 22509.1011 either.
