Didn't see it on my yellow compliant PC (7th gen CPU). Update went smoothly as well

Not seeing this error on my yellow band Dell Inspiron 13 7th gen cpu machine. On this machine it is only the cpu which is non compliant. Upgrade went smoothly, if rather slowly!

I only got the error 0x80888002 on the not compliant Laptop and Desktop, easily reproduceable too. 😉

I could be wrong but the moment the error didn't even show up on a Google search I knew something weird was up.

Looks like the error on download and the new message I got with upgrade from installation media are definitely caused by the changes made in appraiser.dll in build 22509.

So, looks like you were right then, they tried to implement another block but messed up others as well.

I think that is the case. Here is another new one that showed up today after an upgrade.

It cleared after I hit retry all.

    Hi Sibro,

Looks like the error on download and the new message I got with upgrade from installation media are definitely caused by the changes made in appraiser.dll in build 22509.

As suggested by JuarezFioravanti Filho in his post earlier, replacing appraiser.dll with the older version dated 11/13/2021 from the previous build 22504 is a workaround for both messages below.

The same workaround fixes the W.U. download and the upgrade from USB installation media. (Offline without checking for updates).

I tried both and got up to 22509 without getting either of these errors. 😉
