He may still have the failing version of W.W.E.P. it is an easy check. 😎
AFAIK, uninstalling and reinstalling takes care of WWEP
It sure does, it reinstalls the latest available. But he should have checked what he had installed. 😎
Not even curious?
Okay, belatedly, I did what fg2001 insisted on, using PowerShell in admin mode, and it now shows:
MicrosoftWindows.Client.WebExperience_423.5500.0.0_x64__cw5n1h2txyewy
My question is, in the future if this happens again, will Sibro's instructions work?
Open a cmd prompt with admin rights, copy and paste this command
winget uninstall MicrosoftWindows.Client.WebExperience_cw5n1h2txyewy
Restart
Open a cmd prompt with admin rights, copy and paste this command
winget install 9MSSGKG348SP
And by the way, restart needed here too.
Is that 9MSSG348SP generic to the newest, or specific to today's newest? I am guessing the former. And finally, why didn't Microsoft install that in the cumulative update, if whatever older version we had wasn't going to work?? I mean, that's just annoying.
Depends on what type of problem you have. 😉
winget uninstall --id 9MSSGKG348SP
winget install --id 9MSSGKG348SP
Winget uses the id for the application to be installed.
Assuming MS does not change it to a different id, it should work again.
Anyway, there are also other ways to remove and reinstall an application. 🤣🤣
