Having high CPU usage and lag whenever trying to update WIP "Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Insider Preview (10.0.26120.1542) (KB5041872)" build

I am trying to update the build Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Insider Preview (10.0.26120.1542) (KB5041872).

However, whenever I attempt to download the update, it consistently gets stuck at 8%. When it reaches 8%, the CPU usage by the Windows Modules Installer spikes to 80-90%, causing the PC to become unresponsive and slow. The issue resolves after restarting the PC and pausing the update. However, the problem reappears as soon as I resume the update, making it difficult to use the PC smoothly. I have tried restarting the Windows Modules Installer and Windows update from the systems. But it still is not resolving.

I managed to fix it on my machine. I uninstalled the Security Update for Microsoft Windows KB5041872 and the Feature Enablement for Beta Channel Preview Update KB5037898. After the uninstall I checked for updates, and it downloaded a (repair) update. Once that updated was installed and the PC restarted, checking for updates resulted in once again trying to install the KB5041872 update which managed to pass the 8% mark and fully install within seconds.

    Hi,

    I retried to install it again!

    it stuck on 8% again.

    Then, I Got 0x800706be download error

    So I checked the Update History.

    I found this. It is Weird!

    According the history, this cumulative update was succesfull on Agust 21.

    Unsucessful today

    So the question is : Why Windows update tried to install this cumulative update ? If it was successfully installed two weeks ago?

    It seems like update is trying to be overwritten with itselfs

    Same Problem Here , Stuk on 8%. 100% cpu usage. Had To stop Windows installer process

    just did! but i cant recreate the issue since my windows update is paused!

    i turned bitlocker off and tried again! takes like 5 minutes to reach 8%, almost instant from 0 to 8%! memory suddenly increases from 60% to 80-85%! 8 minutes later cpu starts ramping up, reached 93% and i had to terminate windows modules installer worker, dropped from 93 to 5% in 2 seconds!
