SOLVED on my Asus A412F.
After I installed windows 11 preview, my fingerprint didn't work at all as it worked smoothly and fast on my previous Windows 10. My driver ELAN fingerprint is updated and works normally in the device manager. But still can not use my fingerprint credential option. Only PIN or Password.
First, I try to change my microsoft account to a local account.
- Go to settings > account > Your info.
- Select Sign in with a local account instead.
- Type the user name, password, and password hint for your new account. ...
- Select Next, then select Sign out and finish.
Second, this happens because The Credential Management service is disabled (not automatic).
- Press Win+R and type
services.msc
- Find the service named "Credential Manager"
- Double click it
- Check if the initialization parameter is set to "Automatic"
- If it's not, that was the culprit, enable it.
- On Log On tab, Log On As: Local System Account. Check Allow service to interact with desktop.
- Click OK.
- Then restart.
UPDATE :
Looks like this is somehow is the temporal solution. After some time shutdown and/restart didn't work anymore. Trying several possibles, still won't come out.
Now just hold my coffee cup and sit.
I faced the same problem with my Lenovo ThinkPad E15.
After going through the comments on this post, I did not add or sign in with local account.
I followed your second step i.e. I just set the initialization parameter of 'Credential Manager' to 'Automatic'. Then re-started the laptop and fingerprint sensor started working. Re-started the laptop two times and on both occasions, finger print sensor worked.
