After installing Windows 10 Technical Preview (a clean install) pretty much 99% of my games stopped working. Most of these I got on Steam, so when I try to play one, it starts the first-time setup, where it tries to install DirectX and then it just returns to desktop. If I try again, it just does the same, but if it's one of the few games which don't install it when running them the first time (i.e., Binding of Isaac), then it has no problems.
After that, I tried to play a couple of relatively new games I got from GoG, but they gave me error messages when trying to install DirectX. They still install, but if I try to play them they don't run because they can't find DirectX-related dlls in the computer.
According to Dxdiag, though, DirectX 11 is installed. Reading forums, it seems to me that most people can play games with no problem with the Tech Preview, but some can't because Windows 10 doesn't recognize their graphic cards, and they have to switch to integrated graphics. I can't do this, as my motherboard doesn't have them, but at least when checking system information it seems that the OS recognizes the card (a Radeon Hd 4870, not exactly cutting edge stuff...), so not sure if it's the same, though it might be, as I tried installing the latest drivers for Windows 7/8 and couldn't. Has anybody had similar problems? And did anyone manage to solve them, and how?

DirectX 9 is fully compatible with Windows 10, just that you need to update DirectX libraries separatelly (like in any Windows version) using this tool: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
to no surprise, this doesn't solve anything...
I have an office computer and home computer that run windows 10, and 4th generation intel CPU-integrated GPU: 'graphics stopped working' and 'was recovered' was constantly popping up (for each panel) as a notification under visual studio when I would start it, or give it focus.. within a couple of weeks, visual studio gets an update - windows does some update.. and the issue stops happening... (the drivers remained the same)... then I see (because I don't play that often) my games are having the same underline problem, the graphic context dropping on them..
this seems like an example of the left hand of microsoft not knowing what the right hand is up to..

Install direct x 9 runtime from here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109 and that`s all, it will work.
I have somewhat similar problem as well. Most of my all-time played games like League of Legends and Guild Wars 2 just stopped at 99% installation, didn't even show any error message, except for "an unknown error has occurred" for LoL client. I had tried every single possible solution to fix them, even tried to repair the client, reinstalling several times, changing the server port for Guild Wars 2. At one point I thought it was an internet problem so I did some ipconfig commands to fix it but still nothing works. When I first purchased my computer, it didn't recognize the NVIDIA graphics card but I managed to fix that, even upgraded it. I took my computer to a repair shop, formatted it, I did everything I could think of. However, it did not resolve the major problem. Up until now I still did not know what causes my games being hindered from finishing the setup installation.
I really hope someone can help me with this, please.
