Snipping Tool issues with Build 25295

Split from this thread.

Sure did. Tried also repair and reset.

It didn't help.

Would be nice to be able to install older versions in cases like this.

Hi Sibro,

I solved the Snipping Tool problem by restoring 25284 and then upgrading to 25295 directly, skipping 25290.1000 and 25290.1010.

Snipping tool works fine now on the same machine that was failing when it went from 25290.1010 to 25295.1000.

Go figure!

What made me suspicious was that error on DCOM 25290.1010.

Only once here on that page. Check the other page at the bottom, in the related settings:

The other page shows it only once but it can be set to default from either page.

The problem is that originally it was not showing on the other page, it showed up only after I set it as default.

If I reset the defaults it does not show again. πŸ€£πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

A little confusion about the name too when searching for ms-screenclip as mentioned in the Blog.

That name only shows on one page not the other. 🀣🀣🀣😎

    • [NEW] We’re investigating reports that the New button in Snipping Tool isn’t working for some Insiders after upgrading to Build 25295. If you are impacted by this, going to Settings > Apps > Default apps, and setting screen snipping as the default for ms-screenclip, it should resolve the issue.

I'm sorry but I can't try set it to default because my ST works fine and I'm afraid of mess it up.

Gotta go out for a while.

OK, I figured what the heck! worst case scenario I restore a backup.

I tried all 3, set them to default one by one and nothing hapened, all 3 are still showing and ST was not affected.

That is why you did not have the problem to start with. 😎

In the failing cases the default is set to Microsoft WinRT Storage API

The ones that work have the default set for Screen Snipping.

    Hi Sibro,

Try clicking on reset and see if the default changes. 😎

On the ones that fail the default changes by doing the reset.

Other machines still work after pressing reset because the default stays on Screen Snipping instead of defaulting back to

    Microsoft WinRT Storage API.
