If you’re using the computer when the update downloads, you will be prompted to reboot after which you’ll see the “Installing your apps” screen, and then the new build will be ready to use. If you leave your computer plugged in and on overnight, the update will be installed automatically. Once installed, the build number displayed on the desktop will be 9860. I updated to build 9860 successfully on a Surface Pro 3. Now while in the dock I get an error that no battery is detected. Ideas?

Got the update, had to reset all over again, (not by choice). I don't mind re-doing all my settings, and want to do all that is necessary to test the previews out, but no sound is just not fun at all! Sound didn't work the first time (9860), and it still don't after reset (reinstall of 9860 . Why did it work on the first preview perfectly, and won't work at all with 9860? It's not like its something complex, ---just an Intel motherboard, with 2 speakers powered by a wall wart.

Hi, I had previously installed windows 10 technical preview (build 9841) into a vhdx drive and boot using bcd entry of device vhd=[Drive:]\file.vhdx Am doing this to test hardware running windows 10 directly without affecting existing windows environment, and without using a virtual environment. However, there is no way to update the installation using pc settings -> update -> preview build update Any help would be much appreciated

I got a similar message. Look at task manager. Most likely the preview update is in progress.

The update started automatically once I downloaded it through PC Settings | Update and Recovery | Preview Builds. Using the Update button after the preview was downloaded resulted in an error. Preview 9860 looks fine. I installed 3 additional updates, one for ASP .NET MVC 5.1. VS2013 runs fine as before. The notifications center is a nice touch.
