Today we’re rolling out the first update: Windows Technical Preview build 9860. If you’re using the computer when the update downloads, you will be prompted to reboot after which you’ll see the “Installing your apps” screen, and then the new build will be ready to use. If you leave your computer plugged in and on overnight, the update will be installed automatically. Once installed, the build number displayed on the desktop will be 9860. I'm not running on a VM. Booting on metal to a vhd. Only the HDD is virtualized.

I had no problems updating the build on my vhd. I am running it on oracle virt box.

Yes some of the features have drop in and out like half of the letters have DROPPED out.

Just finished updating to build 9860 and have the same missing letter problem. Everything else is still working except the MS stuff which is hard to use because of the missing letters.

The have said some features will drop in and out as buildschange. It may be something you'll just have to wait for in a new build.
