We hope you are enjoying the current build of Windows Technical Preview. We promised you’ll get the latest build as soon as it’s available. Today we’re rolling out the first update: Windows Technical Preview build 9860.
If you’re using the computer when the update downloads, you will be prompted to reboot after which you’ll see the “Installing your apps” screen, and then the new build will be ready to use. If you leave your computer plugged in and on overnight, the update will be installed automatically. Once installed, the build number displayed on the desktop will be 9860.
More information about build 9860 can be found here but some of the new features include:

I have tried to update my PC to the new build 4 times after the reboot it just sits there with blank monitors and no HD activity. After updating an optional AMD Driver it still does the same thing. If I hit the reset switch after it just sits there a while, it tells me it could not update the new build and has restored my previous build. Am I missing something here? Also hope the new build includes my HP Asus Pegatron Motherboard Realtek HD Audio that the first build removed from my dual boot Win 7 \ Win 10...
Yep got it and Disc Optimizer aka Defrag got Busted. Back to Not able to defragging the I mean optimizing the System Reserved Partition windows 8 coming back to haunt us all
So I'm at home downloading this where I have fast (50 Mbps cable) Internet. After it finishes, I do a search of the C drive for files modified today. I find a folder named "90e20608895b69e99c2e15487a65d780" in windows\softwaredistribution. This folder contains a huge .ESD, an .exe and one other file.
I'm grabbing a copy of that to removable media to take to work tomorrow where I have installed Preview on a few machines, but our Internet is ridiculously slow, less than 3Mbps shared amongst about 40 users. I sure hope it will install after I copy it to those machines. Of course, it would be even better if I could figure out how to load the build into WSUS.
Jan,
Your not alone with the missing letters all over the place. I also had to download Chrome to access the forum. I can't even use the Windows feedback app to report the problem since it's impossible to read the different categories or even what I typed into the text box. I hope they figure this out soon.
I think in the meantime I might reinstall and not update to the 9860 build. Or just switch over to the HD with Windows 7.
I had the missing letters problem too. But it can be fixed by installing update KB3008956. You just need to go to Windows Update and check for new update. Then restart your computer. Everything will be fine.
