We hope you are enjoying the current build of Windows Technical Preview.  We promised you’ll get the latest build as soon as it’s available.  Today we’re rolling out the first update: Windows Technical Preview build 9860.

If you’re using the computer when the update downloads, you will be prompted to reboot after which you’ll see the “Installing your apps” screen, and then the new build will be ready to use.  If you leave your computer plugged in and on overnight, the update will be installed automatically.  Once installed, the build number displayed on the desktop will be 9860.

More information about build 9860 can be found here but some of the new features include:

  • New notifications through Action Center
  • Move apps to other monitors with new keyboard shortcut
  • Choose how quickly you receive new builds

Please keep letting us know what you think!  We are using your feedback to build Windows 10.

Thanks.  However, I believe that "YOU" are not the only one during updates and therefore there is a need for a better "server based" version control system (Distributive Network of servers) which is broad enough cover the entire global while still allowing for some delineate Intellectual Property (IP) protection for region, manufacture and etc...I been noticing undocumented changes which even some the engineers and programs are not recognizing.  This system should be different from the Microsoft R&D servers at Headquarters.  Any each division has uniqueness customized servers anyway.

    Hi, Kulu Sharma

I got it and it installed without any severe problems.

But it ignored some of my settings, e.g. the font size and "bold" for menues and desktop icons. So I had to repeat my special settings for a better reading.

However, the most important issue may be that it solved the audio problem (audio drivers "vanished" often so that I had no sound for watching TV oder Amazon Instant Video. The troubleshooter repaied ist but the problem returned very often and unexpectedly.

    Not solved:

    To get the workgroup running.

I furthermore cannot "see" the other PC's in my WLAN.

    Sincerley yours, Manfred

    PS:

I detected that the video editing application MAGIX Video deluxe did not launch.

    Error Code -6.

    A "repair" installation may help....

No chance: The application had to be fully re-installed.

I have the new 9860 build on three machines via the update process.  But I want to do a new installation on a lenovo laptop.  Are the iso's for the new build available?   And if yes, I would assume that the sha1sum's are also there?
