Clean install of Windows 11 Build 22533.1001 on VMware Player 16.2.2

I downloaded and installed VMware Player 16.2.1 and Installed from the MS Insider ISO 22533.1001 on a Virtual machine.

I used the link below to add TPM, then the installation worked all the way through.

Added this line as suggested in the .vmx file:

managedvm.autoAddVTPM = "software"

Cannot go any further, I don't have a key to activate Windows 11 on VM.

Also, way too slow for my taste on this old laptop.

    Looks like the boot menu is not easy to reach on the VM player free. It only gets there when it times out on the normal boot.

    I don't keep VMware installed all the time; I just reinstall it when I want to do a specific test like in this case.

    I was just wondering if there was a way to preserve the same VM "hardware" identifier for the digital license of windows.

    This time it took my old key, but I probably cannot reuse it on another VM. I just use one Virtual Machine not multiple.

    Let me play with it for a while.

    You should keep the VM intact on the same destination drive to avoid headaches.

    I don't have those files either, this W7 VM was created with Workstation, maybe those files are exclusive to W10 as Johnny mentioned

    Thanks, there should be a way to recreate the same Virtual Machine so that it maintains the digital license.

    I don't like the whole concept.

    I come from a VM environment where the license was based on the Computer Host power, then you could run as many Virtual Machines as possible without a separate license for each guest.

    This is a completely different arrangement, which I don't really care for.

    What if you have a disaster and have to recreate all the Virtual Machines, how are you supposed to recuperate the licenses of each guest?

    Pretty hard to maintain a system like that. 😛
