Clean install of Windows 11 Build 22533.1001 on VMware Player 16.2.2

I downloaded and installed VMware Player 16.2.1 and Installed from the MS Insider ISO 22533.1001 on a Virtual machine.

I used the link below to add TPM, then the installation worked all the way through.

Added this line as suggested in the .vmx file:

managedvm.autoAddVTPM = "software"

Cannot go any further, I don't have a key to activate Windows 11 on VM.

Also, way too slow for my taste on this old laptop.

Hi,

Can't get it to work on VMware. I did every step and it still does not want to work. @Sibro, the vm issue is back after setting up two vms. Same looping again on boot. I may have to clone in the other vms. No idea if its VMware, W11 or UEFI.

I restored 22533 to get rid of VMware, semi-happy with this build until next week.

Thanks. I have no idea why I was getting that loop previously. I did same thing as always, mount ISO, on UEFI boot screen used cdrom, this time it worked. Possibly just a bad install of VMware program itself the first time. I completely removed it, waited must be close to week, re-installed with newer version. I used the following for W11 vm's in VMware vmx file (hated those passwords):

Instead of encrypting and adding the TPM, just add this VMX flag instead:

managedvm.autoAddVTPM="software"

It only encrypts enough for the "secure enclave", so perf should be way better, & no pwd

FYI:

Not sure if you will run into the same problem but VMware Workstation Pro 16.2.2 cannot be uninstall by conventional means. The options to modify or uninstall are greyed out.

I need to investigate further, glad I always have backups of my previous builds. 😁

Hi Sibro,

Installed latest VMware Pro today. Under Installed apps, the Uninstall was greyed out, but Modify was functional. It opened up the VMware installer. What was really strange, recall the issues I had, well everything went through on installs of new vm's. This is on new desktop. I did not change my approach to install from previous version. This time though on one test vm, disk optimize displayed as HDD even though the vms are on SSD and host on nvme. Go figure.
