    Check if the following registry entry is set:

    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System

    Entry: RunAsPPL

    If so, that's the reason you can't change it in the Defender UI.

    You can delete it and configure it in the UI afterwards.

    Upgraded one desktop from Beta 22624.1470 to Canary 25324.1000. No upgrade issues.

    Edition Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview

    Version 22H2

    Installed on ‎3/‎23/‎2023

    OS build 25324.1000

    Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.25324.1000.0

    Went to grab 25324 today. No error messages, no Retry, but keeps going through partial Install (maybe 25%) and then goes back to Downloading, several times. Have never seen this behaviour with any Build previously. Maybe it will complete one of these times 🤞

    Check if the following registry entry is set:

    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System

    Entry: RunAsPPL

    It's an additional protection for LSASS (read more about it here), which can be enforced by group policies as shown in the screenshot, which then blocks any changes in the Defender UI (and just shows "This setting is managed by your administrator.")

    If so, that's the reason you can't change it in the Defender UI, because it it forced by Group Policies.

    You can delete this entry and configure it in the UI afterwards.

    Alternatively, with Windows Pro or Enterprise, you can change it using gpedit:
