Split from this thread.

Anybody getting this weird cursor in a black square instead of the normal one? See the 2 pictures below to compare. Second one is the normal one. 😵‍💫
Had to take pictures because the cursor does not show with snipping tool. 🤷‍♂️

This showed up in one machine and I don't see any way to change it.

Pretty annoying. 😝😵‍💫

Normal cursor should look like this below:

I think you reproduced the problem. Looks like a bug to me.

The size selected should not cause that black square. 🤷‍♂️

I'll try changing the size on the one that fails other than the sizes you mentioned. 😉

I set it to 4 and it is fine.

Thanks for the workaround, I will update the FBH report.

It may be related to the display adapter and driver. This one is an Intel UHD ARC.

By default it was set to size=1 in my case and I never changed it.

With size=1 I don't have that issue, neither with other sizes except the ones I mentioned (3, 7, 11, 15).

Weird, I have the same settings on all machines, and only one has the black square around the cursor.

What is the display adapter and driver?

I did not change any size; It is the same settings that was always there. It only fails that way with 26080 build and none of the other builds.

I can check if any of those settings are different.

I don't understand how you got the black square around the Text Select icon?

My size was always set for 3, but never had the black square around the cursor. 🤷‍♂️

What I meant was the size in the Windows Settings App.

You can directly navigate to that page via WIN + R and execute ms-settings:easeofaccess-mousepointer

The size has a range of 1 to 15 (and 3, 7, 11 and 15 does apply the same background as in your case)

    Example with size = 3:
