Just to update you:
Copilot Issues
Split from this thread.
On April 6, 2024, I started getting this error message. It was working correctly on April 5 with the new undocked format, but not anymore. ๐ตโ๐ซ
Looks like they changed something that broke it. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
After the error, opening snipping tool to take a shot, crashes explorer.exe.

2024-04-11T23:11:08+00:00 Pinned = Side-by-side or 'docked'.
vs
Undocked/Overlay/as an AppYes, even, with that OFF, for me, it still opened at next Startup. And as whatever/whichever way it was last used.
I may have found a reason. Will take a wee bit of time to investigate; see if this makes a difference. Maybe, the setting below is On, by default, in 26100.1
Not that it should matter.
It is off on my machines; I'll check to see what happens if I turn it on. ๐
Edit:
Yes, that setting is the cause of the different behavior. I never had that option on. ๐๐

Edit:
I don't understand what you mean with Pinned. I don't see a way to pin/unpin copilot, It is either on or off.
2nd, changed Copilot to Pinned & Closed (X). Restarted. Copilot opened, pinned, as it had been when last used or open. Auto @ Startup, even with icon OFF

2024-04-11T08:15:41+00:00 Oh, Oh ๐คจ๐๐...
The shut off at the taskbar seemed/sounded so logical, but alas... I just tried it twice, both with the taskbar icon OFF.
Fired up 26100.1
1st, Copilot had opened as an App. Ok, fine, left it that way & Closed (X). Restarted. Copilot opened as an App, as it had been when last used or open. Auto @ Startup, even with icon OFF.
2nd, changed Copilot to Pinned & Closed (X). Restarted. Copilot opened, pinned, as it had been when last used or open. Auto @ Startup, even with icon OFFSummary: Toggling the Copilot icon to OFF does not stop it from auto-opening at Start. It will auto-return as it was/where it was before a reboot, after a reboot.
Cheers,
Drew
