How to remove annoyances from Taskbar and Settings?

Over the past two or three Insider Releases, I've noticed a couple of things being added that I can't find a way to remove or hide.

  1. This sort of weather widget near the notification tray on my taskbar. It seems to be linked to Microsoft News even though I have removed Microsoft News from my system. It is also broken to begin with, taking a while to decide to refresh the weather and the widget also randomly disappears when I hover over it or click on it. And I cannot find a way to turn it off. Please tell me how to turn it off.

  1. The more frustrating one is this annoying popup in the System Settings that asks me to reset my web browsing settings to "Microsoft Recommended". Basically make me use Edge + Bing. I cannot find a way to make this go away either. This is frankly inexcusable behaviour on your part. I spend a not-insignificant amount of time and money downloading and testing Insider builds and I do not need to be told what browser I should be using, ESPECIALLY IN THE SYSTEM SETTINGS. I know what I am using and why I am using it and as long as you keep pushing Edge in such insidious ways, I will never use it.

I am running Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview, build 21322 [I know there's a new one, but I haven't had the time to update it yet.]

The dialog doesn't pop up automatically when I open Settings, but is very annoying nonetheless. You guys can promote Edge all you like, but only to new users. A person who has said repeatedly that he uses a different browser is only going to get annoyed by such tactics [especially in the System Settings and at such a prominent place, and why does my settings care about the search engine I use?]

I do use Edge occasionally, but my primary browser is actually Firefox and has been for several years. I would not switch to Edge, especially with such aggressive behavior. I just need Windows to be aware of that.

Thanks for the Feedback Hub suggestion, I will fill it out if I find the time.

Ok I don't know why that worked, but it did. It also didn't work for me until I plugged in my monitor for some reason [I occasionally use a multi-monitor setup and the monitor is set to be the primary display so that might have something to do with it.]. But it's gone now, thanks a lot!

To get rid of the "Web browsing: recommended settings" icon at the top of the settings page:

Click on Apps --> Default apps --> Web browser, and select whichever browser you want to use.
