Is Microsoft Cashback a scam?

Agreed! bought an xbox, provided receipt screen shots (had activated edge cash back) - ZERO CREDIT.

Same thing on Zenni (this time I even got an email saying credit will be there)

NOTHING. Emailed them, no response for 1 mo, then finally someone responds. "we're checking into it"

2 months go by, not a peep.

Definitely a scam. A shame, since I've been pro-MS otherwise...

I myself am having a horrendous issue with this program as well. I have sent the information to support 5 separate times with no resolution. All I get for a response is a new request for the information from a different representative. I have to start all over again each time with no resolution. My next step is to file a fraud /scam complaint.

I cannot believe customers are treated this way.

The Mocrosoft 'Cash Back' scheme entices you to buy Chinese merchandise.

However they will tell you that it can take up to 90 day to get the 'cash back"! OMG, my drivers license

Yes, what used to work perfectly...cashed out several times prior to October of 2023 with many purchases. Then after the last cash out, dozens of transactions that were still pending and every transaction since goes from completed to missing. Not a single penny of cash back has become available for the past 10 months. The account details page often freezes up when trying to print history and document the fraud but one time, I managed to get a screen that showed a negative balance of over $100 in my payout area. This explains how they are able to 'disappear' funds. Somehow a negative balance is created (not even possible on a rewards program that first waits 60-90 days for 'pending' transactions to 'complete' or be 'cancelled') so that all payouts go from pending, to complete, to paying towards that fraudulent negative balance.

This is a scam, someone is stealing that money in order to get clicks and purchases made that would not otherwise be made. This should be a class action lawsuit with astronomical damages being caused to participants in the Microsoft Cashback program. Customer service is a joke, with canned responses and closed support tickets without resolution regardless of how well the issue is described and documented. Perhaps we should all get together and send complaints to BBB and Attorneys Generals on the same day in order to get their attention.

Update: I did a little more research and see that in my transaction history where earlier transactions had gone through the long pending process, completed and I had cashed them out ...many have now been marked as cancelled months after being completed and verified. It's as if they are now surreptitiously trying to steal back all those valid prior cashback rewards that had already been paid. This is fraud and theft. To anyone like me who has many transactions in their history, I would suggest checking your entire history and print out if you can, along with status and pending account balances and payout history if applicable. It's good to have those on paper documents.

I actually did send in a complaint with the AG. I'm hoping enough people do so that it might turn into a class action something or they'll be more transparent about what they're doing.
