Is Microsoft Cashback a scam?

Same here, I made a big purchase from Home Depot and used Microsoft Cashback for the first time because it offered 8% cashback

I usually use Rakuten which always works and I have received my cash back everytime.

I tried to contact MS Support for cashback multiple times via the support web portal but each time told that it takes time but I know it is not coming now and never shows pending even though I have the screenshot from the web sale which shows the MS Cashback ON and earning the 8% on this.. I have informed them of that but they do not even ask to look at the file.

Rakuten support has been 100% on making sure any trip I use them for cashback goes through if there is a problem and I have the screenshot.

Will not use MS Cashback anymore.

I've got like 7 or 8 grand worth of things that were eligible between some brick and mortars, the Lego website, and ebay, all still pending from November through January still... Have a ticket open with mIcrosoft, had to send them shots of the purchases, receipts, etc, and still nothing happening...

I have had issues with cashback and merchant problems. It seems as though there is something going on regarding "selling a product and activating cashback" through the edge/bing popups. The transactions are easily reversed with zero authority where they state "returned" when an item is not returned and then the payment then disappears. Contacting Microsoft cashback advisors seems to do little to help the situation.

Maybe it's the merchant being a scam. I had issues with OffSaks5th. Either way, Microsoft should NOT be dealing with scammy businesses. And Microsoft should be trustworthy in their "cashback" offers. It seems they are not.

I have one cashback pending for 1 more month, but at this time, I am not using the cashback system in my browser for purchases anymore as it's untrustworthy.
In fact, I'm starting to steer away from their browser due to this issue.

I'm sure many other people feel the same.

Quick recap - Back in November 2023 I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra from Samsung.com because Microsoft had a 10% cashback offer. Subtotal $1,034.99 + $100.91 taxes

This transaction showed up as pending, then disappeared without a trace.

I emailed support and kept adding new tickets every two weeks.

Today 2/29 (well, a week ago)

After getting a bit mean over email, Microsoft emailed me saying they completed my cash back request! Except they didn't.

They gave me $22 and some change. Around 2% cash back. Not 10%

I have screen shots of the offer and confirmation of it being activated. I will be going back to mean emails until I get what I am owed.

I do get the cashback awards no problem with smaller purchases. I made a large purchase that would have resulted in a significant cashback award and that was canceled because they said the purchase was "returned." It was contact lenses, that were never returned. I sent several messages through support. They finally responded requesting documentation, no response. So I followed up several times only to get a message this weekend that they hadn't heard from me, ironically after I said that I would be filing a complaint. I responded AGAIN but at this point I'm so fed up that I filed a complaint with the FTC fraud website. I know it's a long shot but the lack of responsiveness when I've spent thousands as a Microsoft customer only to be denied a measly $40 is unacceptable. It's the principle of the matter at this point.
