I clicked "add phone number" on manage how to sign in with microsoft. I then added my phone number and recieved no text. I resent the code and yet recieved no text. I restarted my phone, reset the wifi and looked at other articles with people having this problem. Nothing helped. Please don't send me the microsoft help page on this issue because that hasn't fixed the problem.

I’m able to input my number and get the code. But when I put in the code and hit next, it says this alias cannot be added to this account. I have enough points right now to get the $100 gift card but no way to redeem my points.

This will help yall trust so basically I accidentally removed my number. Go to support and say u accidentally removed your number and say it sends the code but you're getting the errors. And say you're not using a voip number and it's in your region. Trust this works for me and I've waited for too long hope this help the suffering microsoft rewards users.

UPDATED ANSWER!- I get the same message as all the above thousand people when I try to add my landline as a phone number - "Try another verification method. That verification method isn't working right now."

All the other many threads complaining about not being able to add their landlines to get their rewards, the moderators always say on those threads. "Microsoft no longer sends voice codes to landlines" - So how come, 2 days ago - 24/11/24, when I was asked on screen BY MICROSOFT to give a phone number to get a verification code for something by phone, I keyed in my landline, pressed submit, fully expecting to get the same above rejection message as when I try to update my phone number on my personal details, but instead, my landline rings literally 2 seconds later and an automated voice read out the code I entered it on screen and it accepted no problem at all! So, moderators, microsoft definitely DOES still have the technology to send verification messages to landlines, and the codes they send work no problem at all!!!, so why not let us add our landlines to our personal accounts and use the technology for landlines that you definitely have and which definitely works???

Alternatively, you have all our emails, so why on earth can you not just give us the option to send verification codes for Rewards to our email addresses???? - On another thread someone else asked exactly the same question, and a moderator replied - "It is because mobile phones are more secure" - WHAT!?!?! ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!!??? - OBVIOUSLY that is utter and total RUBBISH!!! - My wife has lost her MOBILE PHONE TWICE!! - AND!!! had it STOLEN!!!!!! - As everybody knows, mobile phones are CONSTANTLY being stolen - BECAUSE THEY SPEND 99.9999% OF THEIR TIME being carried around in hundreds of different locations OUTSIDE THE HOUSE!!! - and, as my wife was advised by police, EVERY SINGLE PHONE IS COMPLETELY HACKABLE!!! - so mobile phones are OBVIOUSLY therefore 50 million times (100 million??) more likely then a computer to be stolen!! - I, of course don't have a mobile phone, and, like everyone else who only has a landline, I use my computer, which, like everybody else, sits inside my house to receive my emails, so, let me think, hmmmm, how many times has my computer been stolen from my house, where it permanently sits errr, well, actually Microsoft, it has never, ever, been stolen - OBVIOUSLY!!!!, because it sits permanently INSIDE MY HOUSE!!! - and the chances of being burgled are obviously absolutely TINY compared to your mobile phone being stolen and then hacked - per my wife - Oh, and every single other person I know who has a mobile phone!! - Every single one of them has either had and their mobile phone lost or stolen, or both!! And even with the tiny chance of my house being burgled, you then have to think, is the first thing they're going to do, pick up a massive computer and walk out the house trying to carry it??, or, do you think on 999 occasions out of 1000 never even consider taking the computer, as that would be insane, when they will actually of course be looking for jewellery, cash and every other possible kind of SMALL high value item? - what do you think Microsoft??? Oh, and I apologise, I didn't explain how many times I have lost or left behind put down for a second and forgotten in anyone one of a million different kinds of places - shop/gym/on a wall. but my computer - OH, that would again be - ZERO!!!!!

So Microsoft, in view of the above, I look forward to you instantly allowing messages to be sent by e-mail, so me and everyone else on this and all the other millions of threads complaining that you have made your system refuse to accept landline numbers can get their rewards you are blocking everyone of us from receiving, oh, and obviously allowing landlines to be put on, and, landlines in preference to mobiles obviously in view of the above huge risks with mobile phones, and ZERO of those risks from landlines.

Look forward to your confirmation of this very very shortly!

Oh, and a very Merry Christmas today Microsoft guys!! 😁 - Please make all our New Years and FINALLY! stop blocking all of us from getting any of the rewards we have earned from you - it's an unbelievably bad look for your company.
