I clicked "add phone number" on manage how to sign in with microsoft. I then added my phone number and recieved no text. I resent the code and yet recieved no text. I restarted my phone, reset the wifi and looked at other articles with people having this problem. Nothing helped. Please don't send me the microsoft help page on this issue because that hasn't fixed the problem.

I'm trying to redeem a Roblox gift card and then they tell me to enter a phone number, I enter the number and it says that this That "this verification method is unavailable" I've already tried entering other numbers and it won't work, how do you resolve this?
Having the same issue. Always get the "This alias cannot be added to your account. Choose a different alias." error when attempting to add a phone number, which is the ONLY WAY to get a gift card using your MS Rewards! So stupid. FIX IT MICROSOFT!!!
Have reached out at least 4 times to get answers from MS Support. All to no avail. Issue persists. And so my rewards go unused. They are basically worthless. Thanks for nothing MS!
Have tried to add a phone number to my account so many times (way more than I can count, and over a couple years' time now) and always get the same issue saying I "cannot add this alias." It's some bug in their code. MS needs to fix this issue and allow us to use our rewards! This is the ONLY WAY to obtain a gift card, so the rewards are essentially useless until they fix this issue. I've tried it on multiple different PCs, laptops, my iPhone, and none of them work. So stupid!
