I can't add a phone number to my microsoft account on microsoft rewards.

I have the same problem. It is so annoying :(

Tried that and did not work, just gave me same kind of problems.

I was about to lose hope, as at first it says I can't add this phone number as alias, then I remembered I used the very same number to other account, so I removed it. When I try to attempt again, it says Try another method, I waited couple of hours cause maybe I made a spam, but still the very the same problem occur. I am using laptop by the way. So I found solution guys!!!!

Download Bing App in your mobile phone then add the phone number there, it works perfectly fine on my end! I am so happy! I hope you guys will find this helpful!

If you are facing the issue "This alias cannot be added ...." check if that particular mobile number / email is linked with another microsoft account or not. I was facing the same issue and found out that my mobile number got linked to my brother's account. After I removed my mobile number from that account, it successfully got linked to mine in just 2 steps. If you don't remember any other account, try logging in into microsoft account using mobile number (if your mobile number is linked to some other account, it will ask for password otherwise it would tell you that this mobile number is not linked to any other account).

Well just so everyone knows, the actual problem we're facing is the phone numbers we have and are trying to enter onto our account is already associated with another account so it's erroring out and not telling us. The online chat rep I was talking to was very helpful as far as what the problem was and why there was nothing he could do to help and it all boils down to Microsoft policies. He said they have taken away the abilities to make manual changes so basically unless rewards or Microsoft change their policies or we change our phone numbers to another one that hopefully isn't already associated with another account then we're just dead in the water.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond and finally provide a logical explanation! I hope they are going to work on a fix but I doubt they even plan to.
