Commercial use of images generated using Copilot, Bing AI and "Image Creator from Designer"

As noted in other questions on this topic, the terms of use for Microsoft services capable of AI image generation appear to have changed in late 2023/early 2024 from a clear "non-commercial use only" policy to an ambiguous "Microsoft does not claim ownership of creations" one, with no mention of how those creations can be legally used.

Can an advisor please clarify the current (end of Jan 2024) restrictions on use of AI-generated images from Microsoft services such as Copilot, Bing AI and "Image Creator from Designer", as well as any requirements for attribution/watermarks to enable unrestricted commercial use?

    I understand how important it's for you to know if you can use images created from Bing Image Creator for commercial use.

    At the moment, there's no official document that states if a user needs to add a watermark to use such images. However, from the experience of many users and mine, I have gathered that using such images for commercial use without adding a watermark or attribute isn't safe.

    At some point, a search like Google will surely detect such images because it's possible someone else might be using the same image generated from Bing Image Creator.

    The best option is to add a watermark.

    To clarify, while use of a watermark is recommended, there are currently no restrictions on commercial use of such images?

    There are no restrictions on any use as long as a user adds a watermark to avoid any copyright infringement or plagiarism.
