Commercial use of images generated using Copilot, Bing AI and "Image Creator from Designer"

You cannot copyright artwork created by a machine. It doesn't matter how many times you change your prompt. If you want to add a watermark, add, 'Created by Bing Image Creator powered by Dall-E'.

No one owns the images, and they might be created by Bing for someone else, so you cannot stop someone else from using the same image. This has been tested in court here: https://www.wired.com/story/ai-art-copyright-matthew-allen/

However, by using AI generated images, you may be breaching someone else's copyright because the machines are trained using other people's artwork and there are currently lawsuits going through the courts over artwork being replicated by AI machines without the permission of the copyright owners. This is why Microsoft doesn't claim copyright ownership either. You're on your own defending your use of it. At your own risk.

my own watermark or a copilot watermark?

This is very confusing.

Traditionally, adding your watermark to images you create manually, is normally something an artist does to prevent others from using your images.

Adding your watermark to an image you create with an AI generator, may prevent others from using your AI images, but adding your watermark to these images does not protect you from being accused of copyright infringement or plagiarism, as the images are created by AI and who knows where AI got parts of those image from. A watermark in the case of AI art seems irrelevant to the question of whether we can use images generator by Bing Image Creator (now Bing Copilot) .

A watermark of my own (mine or my company) or a watermark of Microsoft / Microsoft Copilot?

Considering it took me over 10 hours and 150+ attempts to get AI to create a single usable image yesterday, it can be argued that I have a considerable amount of my own blood, sweat and tears in my images. And the images nearly always need at least some manual editing afterward.
