As noted in other questions on this topic, the terms of use for Microsoft services capable of AI image generation appear to have changed in late 2023/early 2024 from a clear "non-commercial use only" policy to an ambiguous "Microsoft does not claim ownership of creations" one, with no mention of how those creations can be legally used.
Can an advisor please clarify the current (end of Jan 2024) restrictions on use of AI-generated images from Microsoft services such as Copilot, Bing AI and "Image Creator from Designer", as well as any requirements for attribution/watermarks to enable unrestricted commercial use?

It is in Microsoft's interests to avoid being clear on the subject, advise caution, and watch how things unfold.
Agree with this comment. The original question is essentially a legal question, and if it is important enough to the original poster to ask, they should ask their own legal counsel for guidance.
You and Microsoft alike definitely don't own the picture.
From what I gather it is unknown whether the AI generated pics are free license or not, because of the way AI generate the images.
