Commercial use of images generated using Copilot, Bing AI and "Image Creator from Designer"

As noted in other questions on this topic, the terms of use for Microsoft services capable of AI image generation appear to have changed in late 2023/early 2024 from a clear "non-commercial use only" policy to an ambiguous "Microsoft does not claim ownership of creations" one, with no mention of how those creations can be legally used.

Can an advisor please clarify the current (end of Jan 2024) restrictions on use of AI-generated images from Microsoft services such as Copilot, Bing AI and "Image Creator from Designer", as well as any requirements for attribution/watermarks to enable unrestricted commercial use?

    Hi Ravi. I have generated in Bing / Co Pilot a cover for a book I am about to publish. The greatest picture has been improved and touched up using graphic tools. I now have a new image. Can I use this for my book? And just for clarity, when you mention a watermark, do you mean one of my own to protect my Image? Thanks.

    Sorry for the dumb question, but what kind of watermark should we add to our images if we want to use the images commercially? Should it be a Microsoft watermark or a watermark of our own design? Thanks
