Why am I not getting rewards points for searches anymore?

Yesterday my searches stopped counting after 90 points and today nothing has counted. Not for PC or mobile. Why aren't searches counting anymore. I'm ready to cancel Game Pass Ultimate, uninstall Edge, and change my default search engine away from Bing.

I'm having the same issue with not earning points using search. I have reported this to support numerous times and they keep giving me the run around. The issue persists. Support IS NOT HELPING at all.

You see that's the thing. I do work and the points are a breeze to obtain. With the discounted rate at 8,000 points equaling $10 when it comes to rewards being automatically deducted per month, I see that as a win. Anything one can obtain from Microsoft at a discount is a win. Sorry, my friend, I do have a job, and a great one at that. I like to get a discount on purchases when I can. I work in IT for a leading hospital, so I have a computer to access at every corner. Am I chasing the computers down at work to fulfill the quests of earning reward points - no. But if I can be at my desk, on any floor of the hospital, or out in the clinics waiting on a customer, why not knock out the searches? When I am imaging devices, I typically do the searches. This is nothing more than clipping Sunday paper coupons. I like to save money. I am an avid gamer and have been since the days of dial-up and 56K connections. For example, I paid $20 in cash dollars for MS Flight Simulator - the rest of the amount the points took care of. That game isn't cheap by any means.

I merely shared how one can currently obtain reward points, that is all, thus shedding light to answer the question of this particular thread. Consecutively answering the polls, quizzes, and did ya know articles grant even larger points. I am already back up to 41,000 points.

If folks don't like to save a little money, even if it takes a month to get enough points, then they shouldn't be in this particular Q&A forum looking for the answer to the topic of this chat. The topic of this forum is "Why am I not getting reward points for searches anymore?". I have shared one perspective on how to earn them again considering the newly implemented cooldown period with 'Bing searches only." All other activities grant the reward of points back-to-back.

BTW, there is a cooldown period on the Bing mobile app when it comes to using the app to do the searches. Using the app to do the daily quizzes, the daily puzzle, the daily poll, and all the other items, those events do earn points back-to-back. Performing 100 searches back-to-back and earning rewards each time is broken, because one can't earn but only 20 "Bing Search Points" per 15 minutes whether they are executed on the Bing mobile app or via a PC. Hey, if it's working for you, that's wonderful news!

If you have enough time on your hands with which to write such superlative prose whilst working in IT for a hospital, may I suggest that it is no wonder the ransomware keeps getting through?

It actually does have a daily limit. It used to be 310 but now, literally just a day or 2 ago, they took away the Read And Earn that gave you 30 points and lessened the amount of points you get for a few other actions! More daily points taken away!!

You should not have 10 accounts. That type of fraud activity is why they are cracking down and ruining it for those with 1 account. Its not like it is worth having so many anyway. You would make money faster with literally any job

I have discovered the riddle behind "Bing Searches" not being rewarded back-to-back.

Microsoft has implemented a "cooldown" period in between searches. I will post the article to it below. I, too, noticed the issue. I am currently on day 213 for completing the "warp speed quizzes, did ya know, and the daily polls."

I noticed the breakdown a few months before Christmas (2023). I could knock out all Bing searches required to be executed on the Bing mobile app and via a PC or laptop within 2 minutes. That has changed.

You can perform 4 Bing searches, either by PC or via the Bing mobile app within 15 minutes to earn points. You cannot do 4 PC Bing and 4 Bing mobile searches during the same 15-minute window. I have achieved all of my daily points (with my Core account, the max daily shifts from 310 to 320) within the past two weeks.

So, to earn the Bing points, either knock out all of the Bing PC searches (4 at a time) every 15 minutes and then do the Bing mobile searches. For me, I can knock at 40 points of Bing searches on my PC before heading to work. Note: That is 4 searches executed 15 minutes apart. While I am on the road heading to work, I can knock out another 40 points that will apply to the Bing mobile searches (It takes me 36 minutes to get to work, thus, I can do two 15-minute Bing search sessions on my cell phone while driving). Since I work in IT, I have access to a computer all day. So, I spend the first part of my day at my desk and I knock out the remaining PC Bing searches. While I am out in the field working, I finish up the Bing searches on my phone for the mobile rewards points.

I had entered a ticket on this matter via the support team for Microsoft rewards. As predicted, the tech sent me an email stating I needed to clear my browsing history, cache, etc. That issue is not end-point related. It appears that tech didn't get the memo either. It would be great if Microsoft presented the "FAQ" for earning rewards within the Rewards App on the Xbox consoles and the Xbox app for mobile phones. Then, we all wouldn't have been troubleshooting for days on end trying to figure out why the reward points for Bing searches were not stacking up..

Oh yeah, one last thing, make sure you are using the Xbox App to earn reward points, too. With my Core account, they just added a new element. "Play a console game and earn 5 points. The rest of them for the Core account are as follows:

30 points - Play the Microsoft Jeweled game ( I play one level, tap - next level - and moments later I get notified of new points to claim.

15 points - Use the Xbox app (So, just for opening the app daily, one gets 15 points)

50 points - Play a PC game (One that you purchased from the Microsoft store that works on both the Xbox and PC - for example, Pinball M, Pinball Fx3, or Tetris Effect Connected.

For those who pay for the higher memberships, the points above and many others are available to you via the Xbox app.

For me, when I get up in the morning, I do the first 4 searches on my PC using Bing. I then, launch Tetris on my PC. I fire up my Xbox and launch any game. Next, I go brush my teeth. When I am done, I exit out of both games. Within 15 minutes, I get notified on my cell phone via the Xbox app that I earned points for playing both a PC game and an Xbox console game. Note: Sometimes the alerts do not come across within 30 minutes of my exiting the games. I have found that if I open the Xbox app, a message appears for me to claim the points.

The 30 points for playing the Microsoft Jeweled game (that's where the app takes you when you tap to earn those 30 points) is easy. Just play a new game every time and play one round. Be sure to advance to the next level or you will not earn the points. Once your phone alerts you of the incoming points, exit the game and claim your points. There is no need to continue playing unless you just want to kill some time.

The daily puzzle points reset for me every 24 hours. For some reason, that is a late boomer in my world of collecting reward points. BTW, you don't have to do the puzzle. Just click (on PC) or tap (via cell phone) to load the puzzle. Then return to the previous page to get the points.

Before I jet, I will share more info. Obtaining 30 points daily for reading 10 news articles via the Bing app is broken, but earning those points is achievable in one sitting. I tap on the first news article and the coin pops up granting 3 points. I tap "back" and select another news article. Another 3 points are granted. From here I can either do one or 2 more news article taps and then the points stop collecting. I just close all tabs in the Bing mobile app, close the Bing app, open the Bing app again, and do another round of article taps. I typically have to close the app 3 times before I can get all 30 points for accessing 10 different news articles.

Here is the link to the article I mentioned. Note: The article states the 15-minute cool down between searches only grants 3 searches at a time. For the past few weeks, I have been able to perform 4 searches per 15-minute period to where reward points are granted.

    I hope this helps.

    Have a great one.
