The chat history of Copilot has disappeared.

JC, you are correct. I work for an org that has commercial data protection enabled. No config choices and no buttons or a left side panel for that matter.

I found the below explanation here Copilot Privacy and Protections | Microsoft Learn when looking for an answer:

"When commercial data protection is enabled, Copilot doesn't support the chat history feature. It doesn't retain chat prompts or responses."

Solved. No history. Make sure you export after you get a response. Clunky to say the least as it doesn't include the question I asked, though it paraphrases the question and then the output file names are blank requiring more input, at least in a PDF format.

From what I have observed, the chat history of Copilot may already become part of “pay” license services.

Three parts

1. Copilot Free, not or using free MS account login, this no chat history.

2.Copilot wit Commercial Data Protection, it can’t be said free, because of the user need has M365 Business Standard or higher M365 subscription. However, it no additional cost of most M365 Plan customer. It required using tenant account to login, this same no chat history.

3. Copilot for M365, if has this premium add-on license, user can get chat history from Edge or Teams. I recommended using Teams talk to Copilot, because of Teams is enterprise collaborate (IM) platform, beside people communicate to other people, it also good for use Temas talk to AI.

The icon on the desktop app that can easily be mistaken for casting/sharing/full-screening your pane does not do any of those things. Instead, it closes your current chat completely - deletes your history - and reopens a new chat in the browser. So helpful...
