Microsoft Rewards: Daily points issues

Seems that for the past week Microsoft Rewards has not been working/stable. I've submitted multiple feedback requests looking for answers and havent been provided any resolutions.

  1. Daily Search points - I've had issues getting my max points of 170, it seems that each search isnt being counted any longer and no matter what I do I cant seem to get over 150pts/170 for searches.
  2. the Daily Set rewards - I cant seem to get the Quest rewards to complete, it wont let me complete the last 2-objectives even though I am searching as its asking me to.
  3. I've had issues with the Mobile search points and went nearly 4-days without earning any mobile search points and when I reached out to get help i was told "thats how its supposed to work" What do you mean thats how its supposed to work? If I am not able to earn points why offer me the ability to earn them?

I think your rewards staff needs extra training as they dont seem to even be able to understand the issues, let alone provide solutions.

The Microsoft Rewards platform has become increasingly difficult to use or rely on effectively and the user experience is getting worse.

12/28/2023 Update

  • I've given up on using Edge. Its slower and there is no reason to use it. once i hit my current reward balance I am caching out going back to Chrome/brave.

Yesterday I heard back from Microsoft Rewards Support and this was a much more useful reply.

The instructions support provided (even though I had already done this several times in the past) asked me to clear portions of the cache for both PC and Mobile (see below).

After clearing my cache this time around on both devices I tried the quiz completion and the Search and Earn again.

For both yesterday and today both worked eventually. The Quiz in the Daily Set completed correctly on PC therefore completing the Daily Set.

The Search and Earn was still intermittent in it's counting each search (yesterday for PC I needed 42 searches to hit 90pts and 45 Mobile Searches to hit 60pts. Today for PC another 42 searches to complete 90pts, and for Mobile 53 searches to get 60pts). Even though these points are still a little hit or miss I was able to confirm over two days the Rewards System is getting back on track again.

Below is what Support recommended I do to solve the issues we are having and over the last two days at least this has. I cleared the cache and allowed the changes that Microsoft have made to the system run correctly.

Note

I went a step further when clearing the cache as I selected;
Time Range as 'All Time' and selected
Browsing History
Download History
Cookies and other site data
Cached images and files
Autofill form data and
All data from the previous version of Microsoft Edge

(Same cache clearing settings that are available on Mobile Edge)

Microsoft Support recommendation:

Windows Edge:

1.Launch Windows Edge

2.Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete button on your keyboard simultaneously

3.Make sure to check the following items on the list: Browsing History, Cookies and Saved website data, Cached data and files, Form data, and Download history

4.Click Clear button

5.Close all browsers and re-launch your browser

For mobile:

  1. Open the Internet browser and tap the Menu button (⋮). If your device has a physical Menu button, you can press it instead.
  2. Tap "Settings" in the menu.
  3. Tap "Privacy & security."
  4. Tap "Clear cache" at the top of the menu.

Hope everyone here finds this helpful and can resume their Reward point collection again.

it was a great experience with Microsoft with the rewards and everything , I've been a genuine user of microsoft edge but changing the rules and now i can't receive any gifts anymore , and accusing me of using of VIOP or dunno what is that , for over than 7 years i had the same account , and now accusing of things that they cannot prove , if they want i'll prove them wrong , but for now RIP Microsoft , I always loved bing but I'm thinking of changing now to such accusations

Interesting. I have been locked out once for a different reason than yours and understood why. This approach of guilty until proven otherwise bothers me a lot. Nevertheless, lately, to reaccess the reward system, after Edge is updated, I now have to use my computer for a few hours then clean up and close down everything and reopen it again. After this process, everything is back to normal. My search points have always been limited to 3 acceptable searches per day maximum and I do not mind it. An acceptable search has to be something outside of my routine. Opening YouTube does not give me any points. As well, opening some websites like my email page will not give me any points. I don't mind it. This is how it always was for me anyway. As for the new changes made by microsoft, I tend to stumble upon them by mistake. If they announce it somewhere, I do not get the memo. So I am in a permanent sense of discovery to their next changes. What I do mind is when nobody could help me figure out how to get back into the reward system as I just explained how I currently do it. Figuring it all by myself sure gives a boost to my pride as a researcher. Still, by reading others' comments here, I can see that a little bit more accuracy in the support would go a long way in giving Microsoft a better public image. Excuses are not enough.

I got a response pretty quickly from Microsoft's support. It seems that they've made changes to their algorithm and want you to slow down searching. Even searching casually at a rate of, say, once per 30 seconds, they'll force you into a "cool down", which is a phrase support used with me. Then she suggested that they want people to authentically search and mentioned the possibility that I might be using an automated system to generate searches, which I don't. The truth is that I do searches to simultaneously read articles passively, like thumbing through a magazine and reading what interests me, or scanning and moving on what doesn't, and also to accumulate points. It's my morning daily routine. I was a couple months ago that I found I had to slow down my searches to no more than one search per 20 seconds. Now, even searching at once per 30 seconds, I eventually get locked out of accumulating points, and in to a "cool down".

The end result: I still passively read stuff, but I'm not interested in points much anymore. Whether I read on Bing or other sources just doesn't matter to me. The points used to sway me to Bing as a primary tool. Now, it's just one of many.
