How can I disable Copilot in Bing search engine?

The most annoying feature by Microsoft on a miniature scale when using mobile devices.

Scrolling through search results when using Bing search engine on mobile devices automatically switches over to the Copilot tab. There should be a switch in Search Settings (attached pictures) to disable Copilot in all search results.

Hi there, I am John J.D., a fellow Microsoft user like you.

I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, there isn't an option to disable Copilot in Bing's search engine settings, as it's integrated into the browsing experience. We're all users here, and Microsoft employees don't often visit the community, you can provide direct feedback to the Bing team by using the Feedback option at the bottom of the search results page.

In the meantime, I recommend downloading the Microsoft Edge app or the Bing app, as this feature isn't present in those platforms. I understand how frustrating this can be, and I hope this workaround helps improve your search experience.

Just a quick update:

The Microsoft Bing team has added a feature to disable the function that opens Copilot/Bing chat when scrolling down or attempting to refresh the page.

You can disable this feature by clicking on the Menu icon (≡) and toggling off "Scroll to open Copilot".

    No. Just letting it search with Bing, basically by default. Set in Edge to use Bing for searches. Type in whatever, hit Enter > to a Bing results page. I go to/use Copilot only if I 'ask' for that and or go to it on purpose. Nothing "Frankenstein", that I see, with THIS.

    Bing.com is HERE.

    BUT... if Copilot, at the top, is hit OR the Copilot logo, at the right of the Search bar, then it > HERE.

    Sorry, but I don't know what we are doing differently... maybe show me a screen shot.

    One can do traditional searching with Bing and without bothering with Copilot, at all.

    Bing = search engine

    Copilot = AI Assistant.

    AND, looking at the OP, again... I just did the same in my mobile. Result, the same Bing search page. Did NOT "automatically switch to Copilot". I do have Copilot separately & additionally in the Mobile, basically, same as in my PC; which, I can go to & use, if & when I choose, on purpose.

    If so, this is a *very* new change, likely in response to customer outrage. This was not the case when this question was posted a very short time ago, and I'd already switched search engines. Posting as if this has always been the case, if true, is misleading on your part.

    Are you using a different search engine? Because I NEVER hit the icon and continually try not to engage with co-pilot I put in a search hit enter and a Frankenstein answer rears it's ugly head unbidden. i am unable to turn off this feature. Making it NOT optional in the least.

    The point was/is:

    If one for example puts Bananas* in a search box, it uses/goes to Bing not, Copilot. The Copilot icon may be visible there but, it is not Copilot unless & until that icon is hit. That's all,.. that one can seach with Bing & not use Copilot.

    Put it* in the NTP search bar (ignore the Copilot icon), hit Enter > Bing. Same if put in the URL bar.
    With Edge, in Edge, can shut Copilot OFF. Same with the OS... Shut the taskbar icon OFF and don't hit Win+C.

    Hit the Win key, begin typing Bananas, hit Enter. (Again, still) Goes to the same Bing site not, Copilot

    Copilot IS optional❗Using it is optional. Having its icon in Edge toolbar OR the OS taskbar IS optional❗ Don't touch the icon or open it, if & when it's seen... though, NOT in Edge NOR in the OS. Can not even have the Copilot icon in both places. And, in Edge, its GONE not, just only a hidden icon.
