Why is Microsoft Rewards limiting how much I can earn?

I've been doing microsoft rewards for around 2 years and I've gotten consistent points, but since last month Microsoft has been slowly degrading how many points I can get.

For example, they've been only giving 1 POINT now for each task I do instead of 10 points, basically no monthly punch cards, and they just deleted my edge search points.

Is this on purpose to limit how many points older accounts with more points can get?

(I dont want a "Thank you for your opinion, we are going to look into this issue" robot response please)

I experienced the same issue but fortunately it resolved itself a few weeks ago. However the latest issue is that I can only earn 15-20 points every 15-20 minutes or so. After 3-4 searches, I stop earning points and have to wait awhile before I can start earning again. I contacted the MS support team, and they provided a very odd response that they recently adjusted the search limits so that after a few initial searches, there should be no problem earning points. However, they really never answered my question about the limit over time. Very frustrating to say the least.

Recently, I have been able to get back to a similar level of earning points. The 5 points per search feature is a bit more complicated and/or clumsy, but the points can be gotten.

I found out they have included a timer now to limit points accumulated based on time limits.

Only get 3-4 searches per hour for any device.

I have been timing my searches and found this to be somewhat true.

I have noticed in the last week or so to be able to get unlimited searches again.

Either they have taken me off the timer or turned it off for everyone.

If you are still getting limited then it must be on a case by case basis.

I did contact MS support on this about 4-5 months ago and was told to clear cache, reinstall my browser or stand on my head while searching. All just a load of bull.

I just searched the internet and ran across a blog or Reddit posting about MS instituted a timer about a month or so back.

I limited my searches and timed when to continue my accumulation of points.

I got into a pattern of searching during commercial breaks while watching TV.

Now I am having no problems with limits.

Never mind the other big "clever techie" companies - Microsoft INVENTED corporate computer-related corruption and every technique to screw over the little guys (and gals) who made them so big. Sickening. I'm 82 and have an unbroken Rewards streak over 2,050 days - just about 6 years. I normally redeem an Amazon Card as soon as I have the 5.250 points needed but my lifeline phone carrier stopped coverage in this area out in the sticks but by that time I had collected over 15K POINTS. I did eventually get another lifeline account BUT there is only one company that services it here and they could not give me the same number obviously. GUESS WHAT - AND NO PRIZES FOR THE CORRECT GUESS BUT MICROSOFT REWARDS TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT CHANGE THE ACCOUNT TELEPHONE NUMBER ASSOCIATED WITH M'SOFT, MY ACCOUNT, AND REWARDS. I DID EVERYTHING THEY TOLD ME TO DO AND NO WAY DID IT WORK - NO NEW ACCOUNT PHONE NUMBER ACCEPTED. THE REAL RUB CAME AFTER I HAD TRIED EVERY DAMN THING THEY SAID TO DO AND WHEN NONE OF THEM WORKED I GOT THE MESSAGE THAT - TO CUT A LONG STORY SHORT - THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY ACCOUNT AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME DO ANYTHING MORE TO USE UP MY EARNED POINTS. CORRUPTION??? GREED AND SCREW THE POOR WHO MADFE THEM RICH.

That’s the worst story I’ve heard yet.
