Cannot install Cortana Device Setup app from Store - Workaround

Failed when trying to install the "Cortana Device Setup" app for my new Harman Kardon INVOKE. The install failed on my Microsoft phone, Dell laptop, and Surface Pro device. All other apps from the Store would successfully install.

Typed: "Setup Invoke" in search and clicked through to the Store. Setup would fail immediately after clicking "Install" and give a message to contact support. Repeated efforts on all three devices continued to fail.

My recollection is that the Store reported that I already owned the app which may have occurred after the initial install attempt. I have no recollection of any prior install of that app.

My workaround: Using wife's new Surface laptop which had never connected to the Store, and logging in with HER Microsoft account, enabled the app to be installed on her laptop. After successfully installing the Cortana Device Setup app on her machine, I again repeated the same app setup routine on her laptop, but this time used my Microsoft credentials. After that action, I had no problem installing the app on my other 3 devices.

This solution may affect the Cortana Invoke and Surface Headphones setup.

    Hi RRotter,

Before you can set up and control your speaker with your PC, laptop or mobile device, you need to make sure that you're running the latest version of Windows 10 operating system. Cortana can only support Windows 10 devices.

(Note: Surface devices running the updated Windows 10 operating system already have Cortana so there is no need for you to download it)

Only one Microsoft account can be paired with a speaker at a time. To change the Microsoft account paired with a speaker, re-set the speaker and repeat the set-up process with the desired Microsoft account.
