    Hi Jme!

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We're here to help and let's work on this together.

I understand you're having issues with your Surface device. Happy to help and provide more options here.

To further isolate the issue, please allow us to ask a few questions.

    • Is this a brand-new device and it's your first time setting it up?

For the meantime, please try to force your device to shut down and restart. Press and hold power button for 20seconds, wait for the Windows logo to appear, once it does, release the button and wait for your Surface device to restart. After it restarts try to check again for networks.

We'd love to provide more information, but we would have to wait for your response on this for further information. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Regards,

    RodelioP.

Hello, it’s basically a new device.

I hadn’t used it in a few months.

“Sick” it worked fine before then.

Now it’s giving me problems. I switched Wi-Fi at my home now it can’t find it. My phone finds it with no problem. Help.

    Hi Jme!

Thanks for getting back to us and apologies for the delayed response as I have been out of office.

We appreciate you for providing more details on this. Most common reason for this issue can be caused by a corrupted or outdated driver. Please follow suggested troubleshooting steps below:

Reinstall your network driver through device manager. Please follow steps below:

    1. On the search box of your Surface device, search for Device Manager.
    2. Open Device Manager.
    3. Locate and expand Network adapter. Then, right-click your device's network adapter. For example, either Marvell AVASTAR adapter or Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A Wireless Network Adapter.
    4. Select Uninstall device. Please note: another pop up will appear, just leave the box empty and click Ok.
    5. On the top view of Device Manager, go to Action and scan for hardware changes that will automatically reinstall your network adapter.
    6. Lastly, force your device to shutdown and restart. Press and hold power button for 20seconds. Wait for the Windows logo to appear, once it does, you can then release the button and wait for your device to restart.

Please let us know how it goes. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Greetings,

    RodelioP.

    Hi Jme!

Thanks for getting back to us and apologies for the delayed response as I have been out of office.

If that's the case, it would be best to perform a recovery image reset already. This option reimages the entire device, including the partition on the hard drive. It is the most complete form of reset. Before you begin, you must have at least an empty 16GB/32GB of USB Flash drive and it must be formatted to FAT32 prior to downloading the Recovery Image. Please have your files back up as well.

To proceed, please follow the detailed instructions in Creating and using a USB recovery drive for Surface - Microsoft Support.

Please let us know with how it goes. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Regards,

    RodelioP.
