After installing system updates on 02/17/16 for Windows 10, the Surface Detach icon in the taskbar is grayed out and when I mouse over it, it says "Surface Detach: Detached" when it's actually attached and connected to the keyboard. Keyboard works fine but when I try to detach, I have to hold the keyboard detach button for over 10 seconds before the light turns green and I hear the detach sound.
Also, since this started happening, after detaching, the screen no longer rotates in Tablet Mode. Tried locking and unlocking Autorotation and nothing will rotate the screen anymore.
Not sure if these two problems are related.

FYI, your problems can likely be resolved by disabling fast startup. We are still waiting on an update from MS.

I recently bought the new Surfacebook, however there's an issue that keep occurring. In the taskbar, it keeps displaying my tablet is "Detached" while it is attached to the keyboard. And when I take the screen off, it does not auto rotate even when the rotation lock is off. Also the hello sign-in does not work, it keeps displaying "Turning on Camera" but it never turns on, then I have to just sign in with pin or password.
However when I force reboots/ shut down (Hold Power button + Volume up button at the same time for 30 secs) all these problems go away. I don't think this should be happening. And I feel like I shouldn't need to force reboot every time to fix this. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks for your query and sorry to hear about your troubles with your Surface.
The first thing I would suggest we do in this specific case, is to ensure that your device is fully up to date and or all update fully installed.

I just did this and it worked for me. I am not sure how much longer it will work being that technology is not perfect however this was a solid quick fix. Thank you ndpendnc
In my case this didn't fix the problem.my problem was my antivirus was blocking surface dtx from opening properly on start up.
Afther enable it both in my antivirus and my start up programs in my task bar . It fix it .
Also a new update came at the same time .

I'm not using 3rd party Antivirus software. I am safe enough with Windows Defender. In fact, I had less problems with scams, malware, etc. with Windows Defender.
