VPN Client Support

The info page for the new Samsung RT tablet - the ATIV tab - says:

Enterprise Solutions (upon request): Exchange ActiveSync, On-Device Encryption, Cisco VPN (Virtual Private Network), Juniper Junos Pulse VPN, EAS

But the Junos Pulse client is not in the Windows Store - so either Samsung has some exclusive deal with Juniper, or this is a "coming soon" feature.

I'd like an answer. As much as I love the Surface hardware, if I cannot get the last piece of the puzzle I need for work, the Pulse client, and it is available on another vendor's tablet, I'll need to think about switching.

I would really like an answer from Microsoft on this one.

And to re-confirm - the ATIV is a Windows 8 RT tablet, NOT a Windows 8 Pro tablet.

    Well, that's better than nothing I suppose. I hope they are trying their best to implement it soon.

    So I had a conversation with the Sonicwall SRA product team and they are waiting for Microsoft to release the API/SDK's that will allow them to directly modify network devices. So while they are currently forced to say to use pptp/l2tp/etc for now; they are pushing on Microsoft pretty hard to get access to those tools so they can release their SSL VPN (Netextender) for the Surface/RT. They've already done testing on the Acer tablets running Wintel Windows 8 and their tools work great.

    So while I have no "ins" with the Juniper or Cisco vpn folks, I gotta imagine they're all waiting for the same toolkits to become available.

    You would think Cisco would have approached Ms to get this implemented since other mobile platforms support it. Seems sort of bogus, the api is there, just not the will apparently.

    More information from the Cisco AnyConnect team:

    "As mentioned in the article, we can confirm that it is not possible for Cisco to provide the AnyConnect VPN functionality on Windows RT or Windows Phone at this time due to OS restrictions / API limitations. If you are interested in either of these platforms to be supported, we recommend that you reach out to your Microsoft sales team so that they can express interest on your behalf.
