The info page for the new Samsung RT tablet - the ATIV tab - says:

Enterprise Solutions (upon request): Exchange ActiveSync, On-Device Encryption, Cisco VPN (Virtual Private Network), Juniper Junos Pulse VPN, EAS

But the Junos Pulse client is not in the Windows Store - so either Samsung has some exclusive deal with Juniper, or this is a "coming soon" feature.

I'd like an answer. As much as I love the Surface hardware, if I cannot get the last piece of the puzzle I need for work, the Pulse client, and it is available on another vendor's tablet, I'll need to think about switching.

I would really like an answer from Microsoft on this one.

And to re-confirm - the ATIV is a Windows 8 RT tablet, NOT a Windows 8 Pro tablet.

    The license for MS office on Surface RT prohibits commercial use.  You can upgrade the license, and I have no idea what the pricing would look like, but I would guess the Pro would be an easier choice at that point.  Microsoft might be inclined to drag their feet if they see there is enterprize demand for the RT.

    Instead, Microsoft needs to view and respond to this from a BYOD perspective.  BYOD is here to stay, and IT managers need to be able to support a wide variety of devices.  I bought my Surface for personal use.  But occasionally, I want want to use my company's VPN so I can RDP to my work computer.  This is in compliance with the RT license.  This functionality is necessary to compete with other tablets that are ironically, more consumption based.

    Cisco has posted on Twitter that Microsoft has not provided the APIs to develop their VPN software.  It would seem that Microsoft could work with the major providers (Cisco, Juniper, etc) in a closed fashion to bring this to the Windows Store sooner.  This is the second largest unresolved issue on this forum. It should would be great if someone from Microsoft would chime in with an update...

    I'm going to show my ignorance on how Windows and RT works, but I'll ask my question to the community anyway...  Would it be possible to pull the necessary files/executables off of the Samsung tablet and manually install them on the Surface?  I thought all apps needed to be signed, so that might not work...

    in the same boat as most of you. Im an IT Manager. Nice device, no vpn....its a paperweight. We have 150 mobile users. If vpn, our encryption on usb stick and Java worked this would be a slam dunk.

    sadly its being returned next week.

    What a shame. I wish Microsoft would at least let us know they are listening. When I return my surface, does anyone have any recommendations on a tablet that I can use for work?

    If you still like Windows 8 tablets, ASUS and Samsung both have Windows 8 (non-RT) tablets out and coming in the next few weeks that do support standard Windows VPN clients.

    I would always recommend Windows for work unless your company is standardized on Apple/iWork in which case I would suggest iPad.

    The ATOM-based Win 8 tablets are even priced at around the cost of a 64GB Surface.
