VPN Client Support

The info page for the new Samsung RT tablet - the ATIV tab - says:

Enterprise Solutions (upon request): Exchange ActiveSync, On-Device Encryption, Cisco VPN (Virtual Private Network), Juniper Junos Pulse VPN, EAS

But the Junos Pulse client is not in the Windows Store - so either Samsung has some exclusive deal with Juniper, or this is a "coming soon" feature.

I'd like an answer. As much as I love the Surface hardware, if I cannot get the last piece of the puzzle I need for work, the Pulse client, and it is available on another vendor's tablet, I'll need to think about switching.

I would really like an answer from Microsoft on this one.

And to re-confirm - the ATIV is a Windows 8 RT tablet, NOT a Windows 8 Pro tablet.

    Guys, there are no third party VPN Client available on WindowsRT devices (yet), the statement made by Samsung is a bit confusing. 

    You can refer to the TechNet articles Windows8 VPN Connectivity for Unmanaged Devices, andWindows8 VPN Interoperabilityfor more information on connecting to 3rd party VPN Servers from WindowsRT.

    I keep reply this. At least I want to help who will buy Surface. If you need VPN, Exchange Email, Please get away from Surface.

    Hi Everyone,

    I found this link today.  Nothing new in it, but I thought it was interesting to find a blog put on by a Juniper SSL VPN Product manager.  I gave feedback to him that I would like RT support (as well as Windows Phone 8 support).

    I will continue to update this thread weekly. At this time, we have not been given any more information as to how far along in the process the API handoff to 3rd parties is.

    I found other information related to this reply (author unknown for credit):

    Surface Windows RT DOES NOT support Cisco IPSec VPNs

     

    It doesn’t work for most Cisco VPN setups where the IT department has decided to use PSK authentication. Windows never natively supported the IPSec Identifier, or “Group Name” feature in Cisco VPNs, which would be the vast majority.

     

    Apple's OS-X  and iOS (Apple PC's and i-Devices such as iPhone, iPad, iPod etc. supports Cisco IPSec natively and has a field for Group Name, where Microsoft's VPN client does not have a field for Group Name thereby rendering it useless with Cisco IPSec VPNs. 

     

    On Windows RT, you cannot install the Cisco AnyConnect client.

    That was the point of this thread. We knew this, but the reason it doesn't support VPNs is because MS has not released the APIs to do so. If you look a few posts up you'll see a forum admin now saying they are working on the APIs which means Cisco, Juniper, and others can create VPN clients for Windows RT.
