VPN Client Support

The info page for the new Samsung RT tablet - the ATIV tab - says:

Enterprise Solutions (upon request): Exchange ActiveSync, On-Device Encryption, Cisco VPN (Virtual Private Network), Juniper Junos Pulse VPN, EAS

But the Junos Pulse client is not in the Windows Store - so either Samsung has some exclusive deal with Juniper, or this is a "coming soon" feature.

I'd like an answer. As much as I love the Surface hardware, if I cannot get the last piece of the puzzle I need for work, the Pulse client, and it is available on another vendor's tablet, I'll need to think about switching.

I would really like an answer from Microsoft on this one.

And to re-confirm - the ATIV is a Windows 8 RT tablet, NOT a Windows 8 Pro tablet.

    Well, I decided to stop by the Microsoft Store to see the Surface 2.  What a fantastic display on that thing, it is so much faster it will make you nauseous and the two-stage hinge is pretty trick. Remembered to check the VPN options just before walking out and what do I see?  Seems Juniper made the cut into the 8.1 RT RTM.  I didn't want to test it on a store demo, but this is promising. No obligation preorder placed. The wife's iPad is finally going to be retired.

    Not exactly true... as Windows RT is a critical component of any RT-based tablet, be it Surface or Surface 2.

    I look forward to seeing if the official release of Windows RT 8.1 provides any major improvements here.  So far, the pre-release builds of Windows RT 8.1 have not based on everyone's posts, and there has be no response from Microsoft on the topic.

    I like using my Surface RT 1, nut it is not fully usable as a work productivity device in virtually any modern work setting without complete VPN solutions available for Cisco, Juniper, and the like.

    If Microsoft can collaborate with the VPN vendors to close this gap, I would be a huge supporter of these devices.  I'm constantly asked about how well it works by people at work, when travelling, and so on.

    Unfortunately, until this critical gap is confirmed closed, my recommendation to others has been to hold off on Windows RT devices if they need to use it in any telecommuting or remote-work environments.

    VPN Support would have nothing to do with the Surface 2 hardware. This would entirely be a Windows 8.1 feature which will be available to the original Surface on Oct 17th. It looks like there are some big improvements to VPN support in 8.1, but no official news on Juniper.

    It is entirely possible for Microsoft to add Juniper support at any time through Windows Update.

    With no Juniper news, I'm guessing I'll have to skip the Surface 2 as well.
