VPN Client Support

The info page for the new Samsung RT tablet - the ATIV tab - says:

Enterprise Solutions (upon request): Exchange ActiveSync, On-Device Encryption, Cisco VPN (Virtual Private Network), Juniper Junos Pulse VPN, EAS

But the Junos Pulse client is not in the Windows Store - so either Samsung has some exclusive deal with Juniper, or this is a "coming soon" feature.

I'd like an answer. As much as I love the Surface hardware, if I cannot get the last piece of the puzzle I need for work, the Pulse client, and it is available on another vendor's tablet, I'll need to think about switching.

I would really like an answer from Microsoft on this one.

And to re-confirm - the ATIV is a Windows 8 RT tablet, NOT a Windows 8 Pro tablet.

This is yet another thread being ignored by MS. They tell us to come here to communicate with them but they only pick and choose what they want to respond to.

We do listen and have put in a request months ago to the Product Team to get the API's out to VPN developers.

I contacted my Juniper Rep last week about this and got this reply back Friday evening.

I did hear from my engineering team:

Microsoft has not written the needed APIs for the RT platform. We have Pulse support for the full Win8 platform today, but waiting on Microsoft....No known timeframe for this support as it depends upon Microsoft.  Ultimately it will be supported.

One of the support guys at work contacted Juniper yesterday, and a client is on it's way. There's no date yet, but they are working on it. I'm waiting for this eagerly as it means I can then do most of my work on the Surface RT and not need to carry a laptop. I'm also waiting for Good Technologies to release their app for quick access to my company email, also supposedly "coming soon".

I suggest that everyone that is subscribed to this thread post a complaint to twitter and copy in @surface and also use the hashtag #surface. We might need to get a little more aggressive and publicly vocal.
